ZOOM! Teeth Whitening

Memorial Square Dental | NE Calgary Teeth Whitening

Why Do You Need Teeth Whitening?

Your smile is important! It’s one of the first things people notice when they meet you. A bright and white smile looks healthy and youthful, and yet, according to an American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry national survey, 50% of the people surveyed were not satisfied with the appearance of their own smile.

Why Our Patients Choose to Whiten Their Teeth

Whitening is a quick and effective way to gain an immediate cosmetic improvement in appearance. Here are a few reasons why our teeth whitening patients choose this treatment option:

  • To experience the boost of confidence and self-esteem that comes with a great smile
  • To gain a younger appearance
  • To look their best at a special event such as a wedding, job interview or class reunion
  • To make a positive first impression on others
  • To reverse years of everyday staining and yellowing

NE Calgary Teeth WhiteningWhat Causes Teeth Stains and Discoloration?

Your lifestyle and the aging process can stain and darken your teeth. This can include:

  • Tooth decay or trauma to the teeth
  • Poor oral hygiene

Also, many things you do on a daily basis can stain or discolor your teeth, including:

  • Certain medications
  • Drinking coffee, tea, colas, red wine
  • Smoking
  • Eating foods that are acidic

Whitening can often remove these stains resulting in a brighter and whiter smile. Regular hygiene appointments at Memorial Square Dental Clinic are recommended to help reduce the effects of lifestyle habits that can cause staining or yellowing of the teeth. If you’re due for a checkup and dental cleaning, we welcome you to book your hygiene appointment today.

8 Shades Whiter in 90 Minutes!

At Memorial Square Dental Clinic, we use the Zoom! Whitening System, which delivers results that are immediate and long-lasting, as well as being both safe and comfortable. With Zoom in-office, your teeth will be transformed up to eight shades whiter in under 90 minutes.

How Does Zoom! In-Office Whitening Work?

Zoom! Whitening takes approximately 90 minutes in the office, although this depends entirely on the degree of staining on the teeth. Lips and gums are covered so that only teeth are exposed. Teeth are covered with a gel and exposed to a high-intensity light. These work in unison to break up stains and discoloration.

How Long Does Zoom! Professional Whitening Last?

The duration of the whitening result depends very much on the patient. By following some simple post -whitening care instructions, your teeth you can prolong the whitened appearance of your teeth. To keep your teeth looking their best, we recommend flossing, brushing twice daily, and occasional touch-ups with Zoom! Weekender or Nite White gel. For your convenience, and included in the cost of your treatment, we will provide you with custom made whitening trays and whitening gel so you can touch up your Zoom! Whitening at your leisure and in the comfort of your own home.

Dentist Supervised Teeth Whitening is Safe

Extensive research and clinical studies indicate that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dentist are safe. As with any tooth whitening solution, Zoom! is not recommended for children under 13 years of age nor for pregnant or lactating women. Before commencing any whitening treatment, you should always have a thorough examination and address any dental problems found before proceeding.

A Word of Caution About Whitening Toothpastes

While not as effective as dental office bleaching, whitening toothpaste can slightly improve the look of your smile. A problem to be aware of, though, is that many whitening toothpastes use harsh abrasives, such as baking soda, to clean your teeth. Unfortunately, over long periods of repeated use, these harsh abrasives begin to erode tooth enamel making teeth appear yellow, causing them to become sensitive to cold or heat as well as increasing the risk of tooth decay.
